Its both. We perpetuate stone age culture and barbarism because it supports conflict with which our fearless leaders are made wealthy. The theocratic society is not compatible with any progressive society for one main reason that everyone seems to neglect: religion has no compromise. Government must enable compromise with those governed lest the people lose their ability to love in a somewhat 'free' society.
