What are your theories about the multi-colored dress campaign that we all just watched? Clearly it's an orchestrated "viral" effort as no organic idea would take off that quickly. There was a PR organization behind this at some level.
So what was the point? The design of the dress itself was very peculiar. The symoblic way that it revealed how people could look at the same thing and see different things is very important in my opinion - what's is this message intended to accomplish?
Someone elsewhere pointed out the color contrasting white/black llama's "running loose" blew up at the same time - providing a nice companion duality message.

I don't think distraction is the main goal. Honestly it wasn't very distracting. There's more to it.

I am not sure what the purpose behind the campaign was, but it certainly was interesting to see how quickly and easily the masses got distracted by something so trivial.
