There's a reason you didn't see ambulances during or a bit after the shootings. We are trained to stay the hell away from the hot zone and let P.D and swat handle and clear the area. Its called scene safety! How do you expect the medics to treat the patient if we are targets ourselves!
Father is a recently retired career firefighter + EMT [paramedic [amber lamps guy]] and the only restriction of them helping a victim was if the bad guy was right there, in the building or adjacent room etc.
No I'm a national trained paramedic. I've been doing this for 8 years. Our lives come before anyone else's. Perhaps he had different training because he was a fire fighter as well? That would be my best guess.
