I came from a Western nation. I've never known anyone to bail. It's that frog in the pot. Either you're the kind of person who is always travelling or not. If bug-out day is your first rodeo, game over, man.
This "Where will I ever go?" question always prompts people to think along the lines of "how can I best approximate my previous experience?" So, if the US or UK "finally" becomes a shitcan, Canada or New Zealand is a prime candidate with Denmark or Sweden or Iceland not far behind. (Australia stopped being popular in the 80s.) In fact, if you look at the conspiracy concerns, aside from a thin shell of hate-the-yank, these places are pretty much in the pocket of the Anglo empire -- and their governments more so. None of these places would stand up for Snowden.
Romania, Bhutan and India? You guys sound like you've been before. I'm not going to lecture you about "immigrating is no vacation". If you have some connections, some social capital... yeah. Good luck, guys. I wish I had invested more resources in South America. My parents used to go there. I had some friends there. Seems tolerable... On the other hand, the worse the report is in the Anglo world, the better my experience tends to be. That really makes me think the best bug out might be sub-saharan Africa.
But for now, Russia. I'm bugging out / buggering off to Russia.
1 hectare? Seriously? That's 2.5 acres of unproductive land. This is an invitation to subsistence farming. You could buy this for... $500?
I can tell you what this is about. No one ever listened to the "one child policy". There are teams of Chinamen slowly colonizing Siberia. Their existence is "illegal" in China; their continued residence is illegal in Russia. Putin is buying serfs.
But, no, seriously. Yo soy illegal para aqui. I go to Russia in 2 weeks. They gave me a visa.
