I noticed a bit of a change after the /r/fatpeoplehate ban, but it didn't get really toxic until the /r/niggers ban. It brought an onslaught of extremely conservative right-wingers over, and they spilled over into a lot of the bigger subs and started aggressively downvoting everything that didn't fit their narrative and posting a lot of hate-filled shit. I don't think this was intentional on Voat's part, but an unfortunate consequence of Reddit's actions.

Yes, the downvoting=I disagree from this crowd discourages posting and commenting. I am anti-SJW, but also anti-racist, but I don't feel like my comments have a home in Voat anymore
