If you have your system well secured and stable you should have set your Windows to NEVER update anyway. You should always update manually after you have time to research the update and see what is being reported about it after it has been released for a while. I haven't updated Windows 7 in over a year...of course I barely use Windows now, but I have always had updates turned off. There is NO reason to not manually update yourself..or not at all if your system is working and stable. If I could only count how many times I have had friends bitch about windows updates causing problems.... If you are not moving to a linux distro by now..it's on you anyway, it's not like you haven't been warned and don't know about Microsoft's cozy relationship with the NSA anyway.
Even I still keep Windows 7 around for gaming, for now. I am almost ready to take the SSD I have it on now and let my Debian system run on an SSD anyway. (it will be sooooo fast) It is just that Windows needs to be on an SSD for me to even bear it, it is too slow otherwise. Linux is plenty fast on a non-SSD drive..

Also note some microsoft spyware has been known to connect to a hardcoded IP, so basically there's no way but ditch MS entirely.
