Gen X, Gen Y and Gen Z they media tell us (next is Alpha then Beta...) until oh no! People start taking "Gen Y" to be "Gen Why?", Gen whY'er start adopting this as a personality trait, part of their identity. Media try to turn it into Gen Whhhhhhhhyy (annoying child voice) and make it seem unlikeable to question things, only catches on with a handful of boomers. Gen Y are getting closer to always questioning everything. Suddenly the term "millennial", which had been coined to refer to people born in the new millennium (2000 +) starts being used to refer to people growing up in the new millennium (Gen Y and Gen Z) then gets co-opted to refer to Gen Y. People think it sounds cool narcissism ensues, questioning subsides.
Language effects how we behave, and they know it, that's why they are always pushing new-speak.

I would think that's crazy, except I've read 1984. Now I know it's scary.
