Theres actually a few bugs God has specifically noted as being okay for eating, such as the grasshopper and locusts (think those huge cicadas). Not only are they nothing more than tiny beasts usually consuming all our grains but they're quite meaty and worth farming.

I remember seeing several videos showing products actually made with grasshopper. While I absolutely will never willingly or knowingly eat a bug I do admit that with right conditions met bug eating could become an advancement in nutrition, due to high protein content and low amount of area needed for farming.

Individual homes could supply almost unlimited protein for their families becoming self sufficient.
