DDT saved millions of lives from malaria. DDT could easily prevent virtually all West Nile spread. What's the cost? None.

The study linking DDT to thinner condor eggs was bullshit. It's all been propaganda.

Heroin is a similar deal. Doctors would prescribe heroin to alcoholics. Why? Because an alcoholic goes out, spends his whole paycheck getting drunk, drives home drunk, and then beats the shit out of his wife and kids. Put him on heroin, and he just goes home and nods in front of the radio. But, since some people might have enjoyed themselves on heroin, it had to be outlawed.

I agree.

I took a college course on 20th Century History, and they taught that one of the main takeaways to remember for the final exam was that Rachel Carson wrote Silent Spring, and the book exposed that DDT kills eagle eggs. They considered that information to be one of the most important historical events in the last century!
