If so why was his brother killed? Why was his son killed? Why was another brother almost killed? Why was his sister lobotomized?

Bobby knew a lot of what Jack knew, he would have found the conspirators and continued Jack's work. Ted could never be POTUS after his indiscretions with killing that girl. (((They))) will never be denied.
