I fully believe anyone who ISNT retarded can tell the difference between gunfire and fireworks. The closest you are going to get is a .22 under one of those gigantic color bursters. I can stand in the IMMEDIATE vicinity of fireworks going off, NEVER thought "wow that hurt my ears". I fired my .380 ONCE and have never forgotten my earplugs again.

I think this is a lot of panic designed to discourage Americans from their patriotic celebrations of this country, take away YET ANOTHER of our loved pass times. We had to fight long and hard in many places to get them to remove bans on fireworks years ago now.

Na, they can tell the difference.

I wouldn't think so, most round velocity is supersonic, fireworks have a loud bang but it's not supersonic, with a decent mic and software I believe you could tell the difference.

I am not an expert.

I’m not an expert either. Some folks were writing about “booming” ones. That’s definitely not the crack of a gunshot that I’m used to, but fireworks are all over the map I think.

never occurred to me before but you're probably on to something here.
