It was a low effort comment, it deserved a low effort response but since you're here I'll play along.
Simply put, I don't like write off opposing viewpoints by simply saying they're "brainwashed." I can be very paranoid, I know that about myself, that's why I like to keep the door cracked in case I want to go back outside, meanwhile you've locked the door and threw away the key. In other words, I don't like to commit completely to one narrative. You've essentially robbed them of their agency, I don't agree with that. I think that keeps you from being able to empathize and see opposing viewpoints.
You are getting me confused with jop, I wasn't the one who said the brainwashed thing. Thank you for the response anyway though. I agree with the writing off viewpoints thing which is why I commented in the first place. Part of me thinks he may have been joking. Either way, just dismissing someones comment with "thats dumb" doesn't contribute and is ironically doing the same thing you said you didn't like.
Like I said, a low effort comment deserves a low effort response. Why would I put more effort into a conversation than it's worth?
Finally, I'm not writing him off the same way he did with the "brainwashed." There's a big difference between saying someone is dumb versus them being incapable of free thought.

Care to explain why instead of a low effort insult? I'm sure we would love to hear if you have an explanation as to why it is dumb.
