I have read the entire book. It posits that around every 7-12k years our galaxy goes into a higher magnetic frequency area that can displace the magma from a plastic/rubber consistency to more fluid, causing tectonic plates to slide over the earth. The cataclysm is mostly because our oceans do NOT move along with the continental drift, and tsunamis destroy everything.
There are also scientific studies that say our Sun will be effected as well in this higher area of magnetic frequency of our universe our galaxy will move into, causing a massive coronal flash that will change and possibly burn off our atmospheric condition.
You need not worry about this, just stay informed as we will never witness it firsthand.
