This is true, but note that the article is over a year old, backdoors were for outside the US only (as far as was disclosed at Snowden's level), and apparently NSA has to intercept the devices en route to insert the backdoors. So the FW/HW in domestic machines is probably ok.
i would say that's a very reckless statement given the current state of domestic surveillance - no offense intended, just sayin'
this level of surveillance is EXTREMELY pervasive -- and keep in mind we only know what has been disclosed
the question is, what is the reason for it?
15 years of research has not furnished me with any concrete answers, but it seems to me like we're heading in the general direction of Germany prior to the rise of Hitler when the country was in utter chaos
there's only one direction you can go when you're "on top" and i suspect things will get massively worse before they get better
