There's a difference between "effective day-to-day, on the street" and "effective in a hospital, with recirculating air and patients too sick to exit the building".

No, there fucking isn't. Percentage of filtration. If it's x% effective at filtering, that's its filtration effectiveness. Being in a hospital is more risky, but that doesn't change the mask.
