I'd rather say that people who would do such a thing lack imagination or inspiration, they just steal it when it's useful, Wreck of the Titan and such. I love fiction, but so much is fed to them by people who see goalposts they don't.
People find inspiration in all sorts of written works. I wouldn’t call it anything other than “people with worlds of creativity for destructive purposes.“
