I just got off the phone with a relative who repeated this nonsense to me, and she is insisting that she knows this to be true to a religious degree.

I went to school around the same time as this woman, and we repeatedly heard about the Salem witch trials, and this make-believe narrative wasnt so much as tangentially suggested as having anything to do with the trials.

This is the only person I've ever heard so much as conjecture that the Salem witch trials were anything related to contemporary American politics. Where did this false conspiracy start?
