I have a suspicion that voat is actually owned by the same company as reddit and they have quarantined us just like /r/the_donald (Conspiracy)

The thing that makes me think this is how remarkably identical all of the user interface to voat looks like compared to reddit in 2016. The code is nearly exactly the same. It's immaculate. That makes me believe that the creators of voat must have had some of the reddit code to begin with.

In 2016 Reddits code was still open source. So yes the code would have been available to the creators.
