“The reasons for the attack were fully described by bin Laden,” he writes. “His reasons were simple and straightforward. One: foreign troops on the holy land of the Arabian Peninsula. Two: constant bombing and lethal sanctions against Iraq. Three: favoritism for Israel over the Palestinians."

Wow, I get to be critical of something Ron Paul says...

What he's saying is true of course, I just don't know that I appreciate #3 being listed as #3. Go read the fatwas sometime. Palestine is overwhelmingly the focus of bin Laden's ire.

The business about our troops being in Saudi Arabia is true, but exaggerated. Jew took the liberty to title bin Laden's fatwas--something bin Laden never did of course--and chose to emphasize the foreign troops issue by making the title about that and that alone.

This of course was meant to de-emphasize his anger over Israeli atrocity in Palestine, in order to diminish the possibility that Israel be made in any way accountable for its actions.

And once the title was fixed, then the warmongering propaganda outlets (e.g., CNN, The New York Times) would spam the crap out of the "foreign troops in Saudi Arabia" meme, even as they gave absolutely zero critical coverage of Bush spouting the nonsense about our being attacked because of "our freedoms".
