This is the right place for discussing it, since average people don't understand fucking nothing, unless it's was said in news. Let's go. As you might know, we have different standards across the world. We have different measurement systems, different driving sides, different electrical power, different TV broadcast systems, different plugs... you got the picture. My point is that even if there are different systems, there is always only one system that is the most correct, based on physical and geometrical logic. To me it looks like all these different systems were conceived deliberately, simply because this way it's more easy to program people to believe different religious and political ideologies. Imagine a world, where there is only one standard. In a world with only one universal standard, people would start asking questions about why the hell there are different ideologies. Think about it.

Most "differences" you gave examples of were someone taking an idea and doing something to it they thought might improve it. At least as far as tangible things go, the differences all stem from people not happy with how something was at first.
As for less tangible things, the two systems in place seem to be more about creating a divide of some sort to maintain or gain power.
