I think a lot of flat-earthers are actually thought provokers, people pushing you to question what it is you know, and how you know it. ...Did you measure and calculate that yourself, or did you read it?
It leads to recognition of faith being a key component in sci-tech... To build higher on the shoulders of giants, without reproving\discovering their proofs and discoveries.
As much brow beating as I see about flat Earth being stupid, I still haven't seen it properly discredited. People who act like others with different opinions than them are "stupid" when there's no way they can know they're right are assholes. People who say the Earth is flat and rag about it all day long aren't hurting anybody.
Fighting about it doesn't help anyone, at least flat Earthers seem to be the ones trying to explain why they're right.
Ship over the horizon is one. Airline flight times are another. Then you've gotta think about all the people who would have to "be in on it" if the earth were really flat.

How many people would have to be in on it? It'd mainly be NASA wouldn't it?

Random list that comes to mind.
The list of people NOT in on it would be small. Flat earth would change a huge percentage of how everything functions.

Also all sailors who use spherical trigonometry in order to navigate using the sun and stars.
