It is now seeping into everything online, not just Reddit, now Github, 4chan, etc. This "movement" completely seems to lack common sense or any clear knowledge of cause and effect. I know tumblr and other areas are hotbeds of this thinking but could it be actually government propaganda?
We are seeing the sterilizing of the internet via political correctness and I don't think its normal.. It completely flies against everything most of us were raised to believe in the past.
Instead of bastions of free speech, we are now broken and the locations where people fought bad government policies together are now more and more decentralized.. Many media organizations seem to thrive on the chaos, but could this be government and media collusion?

It is probably more about the increase in online usage overall. In the early days of the net, only people in the know had connectivity. Now every dumb-ass on the planet has a device that gives them internet access. They have been opened up to a world of outrage that they never knew existed before, and they are going to put a stop to it!

I think this principle also applies to the opposite group from the SJW crowd. There has been a real increase of extremely negative and flat out racist people online, probably for the same reasons. These two groups tend to clash pretty violently which just amplifies the noise each makes.
