In ancient Greece the serpent represented life and healing, because it seemingly renewed its youth by shedding its skin. To say the Caduceus is the symbol of Satanism, just because a few modern kooks who call themselves Satanists have adopted it as their symbol, would be as crazy as saying the swastika is evil just because some Nazis adopted this ancient symbol of good fortune as their symbol.
