I tried to share this with a couple of family members who, frustratingly, only communicate via facebook. Facebook will NOT allow sharing this link, even if it's shortened.

Have you tried mirroring this using archive.is or similar site, and sharing then?
archive.is of it goes through but bit.ly shortened does not.
