Can anybody tell why and when people left Voat? (Conspiracy)

I was browsing subverses on Voat, and the picture of multiple abandoned subverses is pretty scary. It's like a horror movie, where you see a lot of interesting subverses that were suddenly abandoned in a hurry by owners and posters. I really can't understand why and how exactly the exodus happened. Can anybody tell why and when people left Voat?

Unfortunately a lot of the people who were generating non-political/-meme-y content are now gone. Very little productive discussion sadly.
