My ex had to have a liver transplant. She wasn't an alcoholic. My best friend from high school died while awaiting a transplant liver. He wasn't a drinker either. Now my oldest son who's in his mid 40's has liver problems. My liver is ok but my kidneys are toast and I face dialysis or a kidney transplant. From my perpective I don't think that 1/3 estimate is out of thin air.

The article states that one third of Americans now have liver disease. That's very hard to believe.
