The Treaty of Versailles was the major contributor to the cause of WWII. Likewise the Lisbon Treaty will ultimately be the cause of the next Great European War.
Reading about the Treaty of Versailles as a teen was my first pink pill that maybe the WW2/Nazi narrative wasn't as clear and surefooted as I had been led to believe. Didn't even realise it had planted a seed of doubt in me til only relatively recently though.
It's a fundamental building block of understanding how the Winners write history in their own favor, even the "Good Guys". And it's only way way way down the rabbit hole do you discover the really triggering shit like the Wiemar Republic.
