Conclusion, Brenton Tarrant used a .223 FMJ. This is plausible as he didn't give much thought to the shotgun load-outs either. Now fuck off with the conspiritard theories.
5.56 is was designed for tumbling. The .223 was specifically made for penetration against hardened targets such as body armor. I'll point it out again, the man tried to put buckshot through his windshield. He clearly did not give enough thought to how the specifics of his ammunition would impact his endeavor.
sounds like a waste of time to me. he didn't even bother with the gas, arguably a lot more important than putting his gun down and using both hands to flip over 50 bodies.
ah yea. That feed was so mulched it was hard to see bullet casings on the ground frame to frame, even when he was firing and not moving. 720p and under 10bps at best. I wish I could see some 4k footage.

It's a military round, so of course it's FMJ. It is however, designed to tumble and fragment causing devastating wounds.

How many of the bodies did he turn over after shooting them?

There would have been a lot of blood if he had shot them with 556

The blood would have been more visible if it weren't for that darned gravity.

I was really just making a case for why no "devastating wounds" were seen in the video.
