Cars didn't have seat belts in 1955 and now they have 5. Why? The answer is all about big nylon profits.

The number of seatbelts per seat has not increased since modern standards were put in place decades ago. What an absolutely terrible comparison. The only way it would be fair was if modern cars had like 12 seatbelts per seat, and each additional seatbelt could injure you, and seatbelt manufacturers made massive profits off making people use more seatblets.
