Do you trust VPN companies? (Conspiracy)

Have you ever thought that VPN companies might be fake companies being owned by hell knows who, to give users a false sense of security and this way to better control the information about the user base?

Its hard to know who to trust. I have NordVPN but I can never access Dailystorrmer with them. It doesn't matter if I change countries, I can never get through. I've been back and forth with their tech support but they can't seem to fix it for some reason. I'll be cancelling them once my contract runs out.
