CYBER SECURITYFAG HERE I have thought that exact thing, because if you use a VPN and it IS compromised then it's MUCH LESS secure than just using the internet, you're quite literally then giving them EVERYTHING on a silver platter whereas just using the internet would make it very hard for them to listen in, unless they're you ISP. So before you jump on bandwagon with a VPN you better be damn sure they can be trusted.
A VPN would make it SUPER EASY for them to monitor every single thing you do.
Think of it as if you called someone and asked them to three way call someone else for every phone call you made. Do you trust that person enough to listen into those conversations? If not you surely would not do it.. a VPN is no different.
