Yup they very well could be occupied buildings but they almost look like they are laid out to make it looks like a fuller city form that main street. Also traffic looks lite AF there aren't many cars there. job market probably sucks though and I like it here in the USA.

it's technically possible that buildings that be that thin
they arnt straight lines, they're corrugated and/or curved, which might make a huge structural difference

Exactly correct, from the street they want it to look more impressive. They also fill fruit stalls only when visitors come.
