In the 60s and earlier movies appealed to a high IQ white audience. Movies now appeal to the growing mass of idiots. Also they're dumbed down so they're easier to understand in foreign markets.
To put it simply, you aren't the target demo anymore.
Good point about the IQ thing. I think most older media was higher quality. Books, newspaper articles, journalism, film, were all produced at a sort of higher standard, it seems.
Now there's wayyyy more. Netflix et al have hundreds of hours of shit to rot your mind to, news is all bullshit, there are shitty articles saying whatever you want them to.
Way more noise and less signal. Shitty shit artificially trends.
