I'm asking because I just looked at my list of wifi on my phone, and for a split second before it refreshed, one on the list was CIA_surveillanceb5 or something like that. I tried to screenshot it but it disappeared fast. Never happened before, but several months ago, a creepy old brown van parked around my house, and I had two new routers listed, FBI and FBI_wireless van. Should I be nervous? I know they also delete open tabs and just leave facebook when I open chrome on my phone. Usually that's when I've had several videos open to watch later.

what does being nervous accomplish?

This is an excellent point. Sometimes I get caught up in the fear mongering of society, even though I'm conscious of it as an imprisonment technique.

I named my home router "CIA Surveillance Van" for fun.
It's come up in conversation a couple of time with neighbors. They love it.
That's probably what you saw. Like deathbytaxes said, government spooks are not quite that stupid.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume the CIA and/or FBI would be more discrete than that. On the other hand that would make a pretty funny prank.

I really want to think it's a prank. I'm constantly evaluating whether I'm truly paranoid or something is actually going on. I would think they would use standard unnamed routers.

You should be encrypting your shit anyway, if you're taking basic security measures you should be fine. Not to say agency's like those couldn't get around them, but I'd think you'd have to already be a person of interest for them to put that much work into surveilling you.

I honestly don't know how to go about that. And at this point I'm too afraid to ask. What do I do, like just get a VPN? And what makes someone a person of interest? My uncle is CIA, but I've kept a distance from him and none of that side of the family sees my anti-NWO and anti-Isreal facebook stuff. I do tend to share a lot of the articles discussed here with other people, I am their only source for a lot of information. But I don't do any real digging on my own, so there's gotta be tons of people like me out there.

That's one way to do it, just look up hone network security. Honestly you're probably too boring to waste surveillance resources on anyway...There are dragnet programs like stingray that are going to scoop up your data but there isn't much you can do about those anyway so just being aware is about all you can do.

From what I read a while back, the only thing you'll notice if a stingray is around is the cell service bounces back and forth between 3G and 4G. Is there any other way to take note of one? Thanks by the way, for not being like the asshats on the other site, I never felt welcome to actually ask and learn.

Not sure to be honest with you, I just know my local police department uses it all the time from local news reports so I just assume my phone is being monitored constantly. No problem, that's how you learn shit.
