The title is a bit of an exaggeration, I would say most environmentalists know already that eating meat is bad for the environment and act accordingly. Also she makes it sound like it's and and/or thing, where for example either you use less water in your home or you eat less meat, can we do both maybe ?
Of course you found it annoying if you couldn't keep up.
Every single thing that I don't understand, will annoy me to no end. That's life. So by your logic, you shouldn't make it more annoying for the people that don't share your tastes.
