I think it's our duty. I don't know if God will save us without us doing the legwork.

Basically, we have to make it possible for our goodness to be utilized against evil.

God promised us salvation, but he never said our susceptibility to evil is zapped away.

And if you don't believe in the supernatural, well the analogy works well too. Maybe even easier to understand.
