Why does the US support dictatorships over democratic societies? Not concerned about doing the "right thing."

I think having dictators in shithole countries can be a good thing. They keep order and stability, and no " migrants ". Iraq kept Iran somewhat in check , and removing Saddam just helped strengthen Iran and provided a breeding ground for asslifting terrorists.
