Funny enough, I actually grew up near one of those rivers. It used to be large enough to run steamboats, but after dredging, diversion, and flood control, it's not even deep enough to kayak without scratching the shit out of your boat.
I guess what I'm say is, you're more likely to break an axle, than to tip and lose your gear, so bring a carpenter instead of a banker.
