This Jamal Khashoggi thing stinks to high heaven. If you are a government or a person at a high level in a government and you want to eliminate a political enemy or you want to question them or whatever there are a few ways to go about it I would think.

You snatch him up with no witnesses and disappear him into some dark hole where he's never seen again.

You stage an accident, suicide, robbery gone wrong, etc.

Or you do it in such way you make an example of him and everyone knows you did it, but there is no solid proof.

You don't gank his ass in the middle of your consulate while his fucking fiance waits outside. I mean what the fuck?
