I just finished the documentary. Growing up, my grandfather was part of "The Greatest Generation", USN. Enlisted at 17. As a kid, I spent a lot of time in my grandparents' study. Several books always stood out, "Mein Kampf" being one. It wasn't until I was older that I woukd actually sit down and read it. We were Dutch, having migrated to the U.S. from Germany in the mid-1880s, so I always had an interest in Germanic history.
Fast foward to my sophmore year of college and I lived with 3 Jew roommates. One was hardcore, the other two just pretended. But it was a first hand experience to understand how THEY looked at WW2 history.
After watching the documentary, I'm thoroughly confused. I can sympathize with Germany being blamed for WW1, and the vebgance they sought. But what really happened? Hitler supposedly allowed the Jews to leave, with their assets intact, to Palenstine. Upon learning high ranking SS had Jewish blood in them, Hitler allowed them to serve.
I totally believe in following the money. So who was controlling the money? Patton famously said "we faught the wrong enemy", implying Stalin was the real threat. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Looking back, the U.S. went to the brink with the CCCP. Am I to believe Hitler was NOT systematically exterminating Jews, but instead was fighting to prevent the spread of Communism? If so, why the pact with the Soviets over Poland prior to WW2? And if true, why was the U.S. hoodwinked into fighting Hitler, rather than Stalin?
I honestly don't know what to think. What other sources can you point me to learn more?

I watched that documentary and found it very interesting. For me it was propaganda from the opposite camp from the propaganda I grew up with. I don't believe the propaganda from either camp, but it was a bracing counter-balance to how I was programmed. I have done some research in this area. I don't think Hitler was the monster he is presented as. They say that history is written by the victors and I think it is true in the case. The Allies won. Stalin helped to demonize Hitler to draw attention away from his own atrocities. I find David Irving's research to be convincing. He and others claim that Jews were put into work camps and suffered and died from starvation and typhus but that there were no extermination camps, no gas chambers. Look at alternative research, look at the evidence and make up your own mind. Things are not as we were programmed to believe. Some say Hitler was descended from the Rothschilds. Some say the Jews were the puppet-masters of the Nazis to ensure that the world would not deny Israel to the Jews.
