Kavanaugh is accused of inappropriate contact a bunch of years ago; there's zero evidence, practically no testimony, no way to prosecute, and delaying doesn't really make sense either unless they can delay it through the election and then some. So maybe there's another motive?
For instance, look at this allegation that Rod Rosenstein was planning to wear a wire in conversations with Trump, and was attempting a soft coup. It's probably not actionable in court, I don't know if actual evidence of him trying such a thing exists. Still, Trump could fire him on this basis and probably should. But what if this is intended to create a false equivalence, to accuse Trump of being a hypocrite and keep Deep Staters in place?

No. Kavanaugh is not being held to criminal standards, which include: a statute of limitations, the right to face your accuser, the right of the plaintiff to testify after the accuser, and a presumption of innocence.
These are the actual things that Ford -- a law professor -- has negotiated: 30 years after the fact, she refuses to appear in a room with him, lay her charges after he has tried to construct some kind of preemptive defense. Whatever he says, she can change her story a bit and make him the liar. This is justice as payback, not impartial deduction.
The worst part? Isn't she a law professor?
