Theory: After his resounding success in various ventures Musk was offered entry into the global elite. He only would have had to do something horrible on camera such as murder a child. With the blackmail secured the group would have felt confident enough in its ability to control him to make use of his companies and ideas.
He refused but was too smart to publicize the offer. (which was made way too carefully for him to have evidence of even if he wouldn't have died in a tragic accident) As a result billions have been poured into shorting his company and trying to get him prosecuted for this or that. The notorious They don't want someone with his wealth and possible future power whom they can't control.

Musk is a masterful promoter and fundraiser for bullcrap businesses that incinerate investor money. He's been milking the green religion very effectively which is fine with me since stupid people deserve to be separated from their money. He's not a very good CEO. SpaceX is the only one of his businesses that looks like it might turn a slight profit but that is guaranteed to change back to massive losses again as they proceed with the BFR program. The other ideas he's selling of a green and sustainable future through rooftop solar, batteries, and electric cars are a total waste of resources and worse for the environment than burning oil.

I disagree with your assessment of the solar-electric economy. It's a disruptive technology that can free Americans from the slavery of the British oil monopoly, free people from the commercial electrical grid and move Americans toward powerful self-sufficiency. Of course ending the Federal Reserve System would be a more direct response.

I agreed with you completely not many years ago. My mind was changed when I researched the economic feasibility as an investor and businessman. When considering the totality of benefits and costs with these techs they are worse than just burning oil. The environmental costs are hidden during production and disposal. The financial costs are hidden through subsidies and tax breaks. Electric cars release more CO2 and toxic waste chemicals during production before they even hit the road than a gasoline powered car does slowly over its expected life. It's ridiculous that electric cars are being marketed as saving the planet and keeping air cleaner. It's just out of sight and out of mind. Solar and wind are a complete waste of money since they are not reliable and still must be backed by equal capacity of coal, natural gas, or other fired plants that can provide reliable baseload power. Stupid windmills when factoring in the whole life cycle consume more power than they ever produce. The whole thing amounts to a ridiculous fraud perpetrated by the green religion. Another fraud is recycling. It's more harmful and wasteful than using landfills and completely unnecessary. Almost everything picked up by the recycling scheme ends up in landfills anyway but we'll never stop wasting money on it because it's a religion.
