I might be wrong, but I think it all started when Constantine basically bastardised Catholicism when he merged it with Paganism, now we have things like Christmas Trees = Pagan, A from of sympathetic magick that is done on Saturnalia, And santa which is based on a child stealing pagan entity that the elites of then and now have venerated. Ive even read before that that is why its traditional to give children oranges, because it makes their blood taste better (no idea if thats true). Baal is a pagan deity, thats where we get the word Beelzebub, and Babylon. The pagan Caananites also worshipped the devil and thats also where we get the word cannibalism. Theres loads more on this rabbit hole, and it all seems to link back to Pagan elites bloodlines. https://phoenicia.org/pagan.html
Constantine gave Christanity legitimacy however he didn't merge it with paganism that happened through hundreds of years as Christians tried to spread the religion to pagans. Also Eastern Orthodoxy and Catholicism are slightly different
Really wrong it seems. Thanks for that for that, but What about the rest of it, the etymology and ritual links to paganism, thats pretty straightforward right? Anyway Ill go dive down that warren entrance next, do you know any good places to start?. I would love to know how Pagans got Christians and Catholics to adopt their traditions.
The etymology is really fun to go down. "Hell" as we know it basically doesn't exist, it's been mistranslated.
Also "God" is short for "Goden" ei "Odin" the Viking god. What Christians would do, when moving to a pagan culture is to adopt a lot of their customs, holidays and deities and transmute them in explaining Christianity. For example, if you moved Germany and Sweden, how would you explain Jesus? Well you would say he had a father like your "Odin" etc...and they would adopt holidays like Easter was a pagan holiday and the Christians changed it to Passover, so the communities all of a sudden had this pressure. There were two holidays, which one do you celebrate?
The process took generations, which is also why the Muslim migrant invation is so damn dangerous!
