When I was a kid in school, we had to swish that shit around in our mouth like 3 times a year. Green liquid. Fluoride.

Last time I went to the dentist, the dentist calmly instructed his aide to squirt fluoride into my mouth. I informed him I would decline the flouride. I'll never forget (or quite understand) the look of terror he got on this face and the urgency with which he instructed his aide (in Hindi, apparently her English wasn't so hot) to cease and desist.

Fluoride applied topically isn't dangerous. Also fluoride used in a dental prudecure is different than the kind used in drinking water.

How is the one in the dental procedure different? Because it's spat out rather than consumed? I've heard tons of crap about what it does to your teeth. Having been born with genetically superior teeth, I cannot blame fluoride for damage to mine.. I hear shit. I don't believe it necessarily. If it seems more prudent to err on the side of caution based on rumor, then I do.

They have different chemical make ups. Also there are plenty of things if applied topically that could be dangerous if digested often.

Water and most toothpaste is Sodium Fluoride (an industrial by-product). Dental fluoride tends to be Stannous Fluoride. Cute... failfox dictionary didn't recognize stannous.
