Eh Satan is a pretty cool guy. Told everyone the greatest lie ever that he doesn't exist.

May I give a couple of examples that attempt to articulate why I disagree with that viewpoint. There is wisdom contained in those scriptures, even if satan is metaphorical and not an actual higher life form that ancient peoples called 'angels/demons'.

First, Satan was one of the angels, he started out well put together and full of potential, just like everyone, until his fall which started with the cultivation of jealousy, resentment, arrogance, etc. It decayed him into a prince of lies and merchant of death. In the modern day there is an analog. Memes and pictures have been posted here of beautiful young women starting out in life full of beauty and potential, then they go to college and become progressive, which turns them into bitter hateful and mutilated ogres. For a long time now, whenever I see a before/after pic of an SJW, I think of the fall of satan; it's a great analogy.

Second, Satan is said to disguise himself as a minister of light in order to deceive. This describes progressivism as well. So full of virtue signaling, always tooting their own horn about how compassionate, virtuous, and tolerant they are, when in reality they create sickness, violence, and decay, and the veneer quickly peels off and reveals deception and dirty tricks to get their way.

Institutional Christianity has issues, for sure, but I think there is peril in ignoring these ancient lessons just because they were articulated in pre-scientific language. It causes a repeat of learning those lessons the hard way - just like honesty, conservatism, traditional wives/husbands, and general soundness of mind, has become so valuable and beautiful again because of the contrast to the culture degenerating.

Well said. Thanks.

Lucifer is the angel of light, the archon of Venus. Like /u/Elcycs sez, Lucifer just brings the light.

Satan is a different guy, another "son of God", but serving as the "opposing council".

Elcycs ago

I'll have to check on that. I thought Satan and Lucifer were the same. That he acquired a new name to go with his new job.

As an aside, something in the back of my head says that angels didn't have free will. If that's correct none of this makes sense anyway.

pitenius ago

Correct! Angels lack free will. Makes Satan a bit more like the left hand of God.

Elcycs ago

This reminds me of the problem of evil...

Elcycs ago

Here's something fun. What was Satan's crime? The answer you usually get is defying the will of god, but no one talks about what he did.

He fell because he wanted to help and elevate humans.

Progressives want to overthrow nature and install their own order of things, with the stated claim of elevating humanity. The problem was not with wanting to help humans. It was with thinking he was above nature (God) itself, bringing arrogance and jealousy into the equation.

Which alien would win in a fight? Mork, Alf, or Jarjar?

Mr_Wolf ago

I'd have to go with Alf, seems to be the only one that wasnt a complete idiot. Also way has there never been any Alf reruns in recent years? Mork was on into the '00s

Roger is kind of a modern day Alf.

I think you mean Gordon Shumway, you bigot.
