Conspiracy aside, isn't weather control the next step for our civilization? I mean, it would be incredibly beneficial to be able to effect weather patterns. We wouldn't need to relocate cities, we could elevate the production capacity of currently sparse regions, etc.
As a science nerd, I think it's a really neat idea.

I mean, so it has the possibility to be abused. Is that sufficient reason to stunt scientific progress? Personally, I don't think so.

What if the progress had been made 50 years ago, and it is being abused as we type these messages to each other?
