Yes, I knew. Did you know that Baphomet really isn't a Satanic divinity? The image of Baphomet you are thinking of was created in the mid-19th century by a French occultist who called himself Eliphas Levi. Levi was into ritual magic, esoteric philosophy, the Kabbalah, and Hermetic wisdom. He was not a Satanist. He was a Christian. The hermaphrodite symbolism suggests self-generation, self-rebirth and self-renewal.

One is not both a French occultist AND a Christian. Not for real. Occult practice = Lucifer/Satan

This is very incorrect. "Occult" simply means hidden. There has been a long-standing campaign to scare people off with the exact same idea that you just repeated.

The church wouldn't want their congregation to look into occult teachings because then they would see that the current version of Christianity is just a bastardized version of the real teachings of Christ (whether he existed as a man or an allegory).

They would also see that their own religion has been littered with pagan and occult themes, which would lead to tough questions.

You can't fit the truth in a box.
