We have the Gran Telescopio, the Hubble and an internationat space station but only get fed crappy pictures of the moon? (creativespacescience.files.wordpress.com)

Hubble can't focus on the moon.... too much light, but there should be a scope mounted on the ISS. Don't know why there isn't.

I put Hubble into the mix just to call out the idea that we have orbiting telescopes that could grab clear shots of the moon like you suggested.
Actually, I thought the moon was too close for the Hubble.
It may be both. Any image of the moon from hubble would be washed out, tho.

5 billion dollar telescope and they couldn't afford an adjustable shutter speed.
