But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
Commanding women to cover their heads, the punishment for uncovered heads is shaving off all their hair. I've been studying the Holy Bible, I've found so much I had never even heard of before. Nobody follows any of the Holy Bible, at all, it's a vastly different idea than what many take it to be.
Lol. Yes I am. We don’t have to live by all the old laws in the Bible. Such as the old testaments. There’s an old and a New Testament. But, in this instance, I think it’s talking about the church of Corinth and the customs during that time.
But I am -very- certain you are supposed to follow the old testament.
17Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
What does this mean? The old testament still applies, this is what Jesus was preaching about, follow God's laws in the old testament. Furthermore, I think a common misconception that if perhaps you are baptized or simply believe and love Jesus that you go heaven. I think this is untrue.
21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.*
Iniquity meaning outside of God's law, sin. If you are a habitual sinner, refusal to obey God's laws much as you are suggesting, you go to hell. I think it's considered far worse when you tell others to do so. Jesus's gift was to lower the bar, love him and instead of it taking one or two sins, you still have a much greater chance at redemption. But you can't just say "oh I love Jesus so forget God's laws" and have any hope of going to heaven.

I don’t think that is how we’re expected to live today. With our heads covered.

Expected by who? Elaborate?
srayzie ago
By God. That may have been that way there at that time. But, I don’t think God expects us women to cover our heads now.

I must have missed the memo. Why? Any other portions of the Holy Bible have been somehow made irrelevant I should know about?
Are you a Christian?

As I noted, 1 corinthians is the new testament.

These are good articles that explain it.

It’s ok if you disagree. I’m not into debating religion. I was just curious when I saw what you posted. .
