It's a good evolutionary strategy for them because their saplings grow slower than the weeds which means if their seeds germinate at other times they will be strangled to death by smaller vegetation. Immediately after a fire they have lots of fertile ground and clear access to sunlight. Also fire season ends right before the wet season begins.

Some trees are naturally fire resistant. The trees depend on fire to sprout.
